In the spirit of good camping,
Thunderbird to you.

Two camps, one tradition.

Gene “Speedy” Altman and his wife “Honey” founded Camp Thunderbird for Boys in 1946, and opened their doors for the first camp season in 1947. In 1969, their daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Allen “Moe” Sigoloff, helped establish Camp Thunderbird for Girls, opening the Girls' Camp for its first summer in 1970 and then taking the reigns on Boys' Camp in 1972. Nearly 40 years later, Moe and Carol passed the legacy on to their daughter and son-in law, Shari "Tres" Sigoloff and Michael Rawitscher.

Today, Tres and Michael are co-directors of Camp Thunderbird for Girls and long-time alum, Roger "Brick" Bristowe, is the director of Camp Thunderbird for Boys. A lot has changed in 75 years, but camp is still camp. Adventure Day, Paul Bunyan sundaes, loon calls, the Hootenanny, the northern lights. The lodge is still filled with laughter and (at Girls' Camp) song. Council Fire is still a time for quiet reflection. And best friends are still made, missed, and reunited every summer.
